Can I scan a photo that a professional photographer took and have you print that on canvas?

If the professional photographer did not give you the right to the images it is illegal for you to scan them and illegal for us to print them. However, many photographers today sell their digital flies to their clients and authorize their release for personal use.

Do you crop an image to fit the proportion I ordered?

Yes, we artistically crop the image to fit the proportion of the print ordered, unless specified not to. In this that case a custom size may be necessary. We will contact you to discuss size options if we feel the canvas or print size does not work with the file you submitted. This is a very important thing to think about when ordering.  Most digital cameras and cell phones make an image close to the proportion of a 4x6 aspect ratio. Many common photo sizes do not exactly match the proportion of the original digital file. Some cropping is usually necessary.

Do you print from traditional photographic prints?

Yes we can.  First, we would scan the image, then print it.  We recommend having your local independent photo lab scan your print for you.  Have them scan the image at 300 dpi at the final output size of your canvas print.  For example, if you want a 16”x20” canvas have them scan your smaller image at 16”x20” at 300dpi. If you wish to have us scan your photo, please send the photo to our mailing address on our Contact Us page. Please include all of your contact information and specific details of what you want to order.

Will a picture from my cell phone or Facebook a make a high quality canvas print?

Most new cell phones are capable of taking high resolution digital images. However, many times files are downsized during email and file transfers. Make sure you are submitting an original digital image when placing your order. Images from Facebook do not typically make high quality canvas prints.

What is the difference between the Painterly Effect and Gel Brush Stroke finish.

The Painterly Effect is a digital painting effect done to the photo before the canvas is printed. The Gel Brush Stroke finish is a clear acrylic gel that is applied with a paint brush to the surface of the canvas after it is printed. Although either service can be ordered individually, the two used in combination with each other give the most realistic representation of an actual painted piece of art.
